The biggest obstacle in front of domestic cat’s healthy life is the disinfectants and cleaning supplies that are used insensibly. Especially the idea of housewives’ cleanliness and hygiene obsession, which can reach a degree of sickness, hasn’t been research or discussed neither Swiss scientist :) nor any scientist from another nationality. I am assuming our scientists have a lot of administrative obligations. A few studies made by only a handful of scientist on this vital subject are not being published or even if they did they wouldn’t be announced enough or public opinion created about them. I am going to try to explain possible reasons for this at the end of my article.
Even if this article is about cats because of where its published and my profession, it concerns you cat people and your loved ones whom you share your living space. Unfortunately the damage our cleanliness obsession causing to both ourselves and our cats it beyond our predictions. I hope your view on the cleaning products change, at least a little bit, after you read this article. The group most affected by these detergents, cleaners and disinfectants, which I will be addressing as hygienic toxins from now on, are babies and cats. Think about children or cats of people who are obsessed with cleaning. Even after all those care and attention why can’t they get rid of diseases? What can be the reason of cancer cases that is seen over the last few years? Even though babies are taking these chemicals through breathing and ingestion, the situation for our cats is direr. They are contaminated by breathing, ingestion and by contact.
“THERE NOTHING MORE HAZARDOUS FOR A CAT’S HEALTH THAN CLEANING SUPPLIES.”
The ways cats can be contaminated by hygienic toxins:
- By breathing: The hygienic toxins can enter our cats’ bodies most frequently and most effectively by respiration. These products we are using for deep cleaning which contain thousands of different chemical formulas start to vaporize after application. The alarm bells starts to go off for our cat that has to breathe in these vapors. I want you to deduce how close our cats to the danger, noses of which is 20 cm high of the ground at maximum. Even though it is thought that ventilating the house for a long period of time is helpful, that can’t get rid of the vapors entirely. Beside I don’t think anybody can ventilate their house for a long period of time in cold winter months. Additionally the air fresheners, that are thought to get rid of the bad smells, are also poisoning our cats. (Even if it is not about cats there is chemical that I should talk about here: chlorine. As you know chlorine, that is used to disinfect our city water, is hazardous for us both in gas or liquid state. When we take a very hot shower the chlorine vaporizes and when we breathe in this gas it has a negative effect on our body starting with the respiratory system. Since there is no alternative for chlorinated water I advise you not to take hot showers. Besides if we think about the effects of chlorinated water in pool on our swimming wear, I think you can guess how hazardous it is for our skin.)
- By ingestion: Most predicted but also mot dangerous way of contamination. Yes, our cat don’t lick these toxin like a curious dog, it actually goes to another room after realizing they are in the environment. Because our cat realizes it is dangerous before us. So how can this contamination by ingestion actualize? If you didn’t guess how these toxins, which we are using to clean our house, are ingested by our cat, let me help you: By licking its hair. Shortly, this is how the process occurs. You cleaned your house with bleach or another hygienic toxin. After a while your cat has to walk around in these surface, because it has no choice. Next step your cat starts to clean itself like it always does and in this process is contaminated by licking its paws. This contamination which isn’t a valid for us damages all of our cats’ organs starting with liver.
- By contact: As I explained above these toxin can enter our cats skin through their paw but also through skin after they lay on this surfaces which are cleaned by these hygienic toxins. Beside when you think your cat touches its face and behind its ears with its paw this toxin can go anywhere in the body. At this juncture I know there are lots of us who hire helpers to periodically clean the house. And it’s indisputable that these helper’s have a heavy hand when it comes to using hygienic toxins. Because the evidence of cleaning they made is shown by using these product with impunity. Did you ever think why you cat doesn’t like your cleaner or house cleaning day? It is very simple. Because they are actively poisoned by them. However they don’t have anywhere else to go. They are living in the house after all. Why am I explaining this? Because I want you to relay these to your cleaners. Even if you are self-conscious about this subject for practical success you need them to know. It is best not to buy these hygienic toxin et all. I feel like I am hearing you say “How are we going to clean our houses then?” Even though I can’t give formulas about that I can say that soap powder, soft soap, sodium bicarbonate and vinegar is safe to use as cleaning products. But first you need to change your musts about sanitation. Although cleaning and sanitation seems the same, if you took sanitation to the next level I have to remind that you may have to seek treatment.
Negative effects of hygienic toxins:
Most innocent effect creating a hygienic environment in the home is weakening of immune system. As you know you need microbes and bacteria in order to strengthen the immune system. If there is no microbes the system doesn’t work and when it doesn’t work it gets weakened. And weakening of the immune system invites lots of diseases. The reason people who are living the cats or dogs or children who have grown up with animals are more healthy and strong is that animals relatively prevent this extreme hygienic environments. The organ in our cat’s body that is most affected by these chemicals is the liver. These toxins accumulate over time and cause liver failure or even death. This is the root cause one of our biggest complains, our cat’s hair shedding. In my over 20 year clinical career I’ve witnessed these chemicals cause liver diseases, renal failures, neural and respiratory system problems, eye discharges, allergies and various skin problems. I’ve seen that if they are not too advanced all these problems can go away after taking away of these hygienic toxins. I also think they can cause different types of cancers.
Finally, you may be thinking since we are living with these toxins why haven’t we been informed before? Why governments didn’t bring up these chemicals which are more harmful than cigarettes of alcohol? Why this subject has never been discussed while every print and visual media is talking about dangers of obesity? Although the questions can go on, the answer as always is simple… The monopolies that think nothing of human life but only their profits. We all watch TV ads even if we don’t want to. If we think that every one of two ads are from these hygienic toxin manufacturers, the answer shows itself. It is a known fact that advertisement sector controls the media. And I think you can deduce that media is not going to discredit a sector it makes most of its money. Also I want to tell you all about how powerful these profit hungry, multinational monopolies are, how they don’t care about humans, animals or the environment, how they use science and scientist in this goal and how they are still accumulating power and influence but I came to the end of the page I was given. Cat people can understand the rest.
With my love and respect.
